It struck me strange tonight watching the Kennedy Center Honors that a good number, if not all of those honored were not honorable; not honorable from a decidedly Christian perspective anyway. Drunks, adulterers, drug-absuers: to them we, as a culture, ascribe honor? For those who've learned and moved on to better paths, I congratulate you. For those who embody Philippians 3:19, "whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame--who set their mind on earthly things" - well the Scripture seems clear.
When did we loose our way to give honor to whom honor is due? There sits President Bush - - - for all his shortcomings, has kept us safe from an untold number of additional terrorist attacks and he himself is attached and maligned by 99% of those seated in that hall. A good man...a man of righteous principles is seldom regarded as a popular man in the world.
